If you are replacing several doors, label each door and opening before the visit. Small size differences between rooms can matter even when doors look identical.
Door installation often exposes hidden frame issues. If the opening is out of square, the jamb is loose, or the floor is uneven, we identify the adjustment needed so the door does not scrape, swing open, or fail to latch after installation.

3. $150 Work Minimum
Every job is quoted and approved before work starts — no surprises. After a $99 assessment, a $150 job means you pay the $51 difference. Prices are plus NY sales tax where applicable.
4. Entry Doors & Pocket-Door Retrofits
New in the estimate above. An exterior prehung entry door in the existing opening of a 1–2 family house is $450–$725 in a wood-frame opening and $650–$925 in a same-size masonry opening; hauling away the old door is $60–$100 each, a pass-through. A pocket-door frame kit retrofit — opening a drywall partition, setting the kit header, hanging the door and finishing both faces, typically three visits — is $1,500–$2,700 per opening, and a plaster-and-lath wall adds $450–$850. The door unit, paint and masonry work are separate; load-bearing or fire-rated walls, wiring, plumbing or ducts inside the wall, fire-rated corridor doors and landmarked facades are not taken on, and photos of both sides of the wall come first.

How much does door installation cost in NYC?
In NYC, hanging a new door slab in an existing frame runs about $195–$610, a closet, pocket or barn door about $210–$765, and a full prehung door with a new frame about $390–$1,150, depending on size, frame condition and trim. Photo estimates are free, and work starts at the $150 minimum.
Do you install pocket doors?
Yes. On an existing pocket frame we hang the slab and fit the track, rollers and hardware, including soft-close mechanisms. We also install a new pocket-door frame kit in an existing interior wall that is not load-bearing: we open the wall, set the frame kit, re-hang the drywall, then tape and finish it. A new frame kit is quoted from photos of both sides of the wall. Load-bearing walls and anything structural are excluded.
Can you install a barn door?
Absolutely. We mount barn door tracks and hardware with proper clearance and smooth operation.
Do you supply doors?
We install doors you provide. We can recommend sizes and suppliers.
