Same-Day Handyman & Appliance Help in NYC
When the Calendar Allows
Photo-first triage during business hours, a fast scope check and quote, and a same-day or next-day visit when a slot is open. No 24/7 promises, no fake urgency, just an honest calendar.
ASAP Triage, Not ASAP Promises
"Same-day" only works when nobody wastes the first visit on discovering the problem. We move the discovery into your first message.
Send Everything Upfront
Text photos of the problem, the appliance model number if one is involved, your address or neighborhood, and access notes: doorman, elevator, COI rules, when you can host.
We Confirm Scope and Quote Fast
During business hours we review the photos, confirm the job fits insured handyman scope, and quote. Anything that needs a licensed plumber, electrician or specialist gets flagged right here, before a visit is booked.
Book the First Open Slot
If today's route has room and the scope fits, you get a same-day window. If not, we say so honestly and offer the next opening, usually next-day, with interim steps where they help.
What Tends to Fit an Open Slot
Compact, well-described jobs slot into a running route. Each card links to the page that explains the full scope.
Door and lock trouble after a rough entry
A door that will not latch, a sagging hinge or a strike plate knocked out of line after a lockout usually fits a short adjustment visit. Details on the door repair page.
Refrigerator not cooling triage
Send current fridge and freezer temperatures with the model number. Condenser cleaning, airflow and gasket checks fit same-day scope; sealed-system failures get routed to a specialist. See refrigerator repair.
Dishwasher or washer leak, contained
If the shutoff works and the water is contained, a visible-connection, hose and drain observation visit is a realistic quick booking. Start at dishwasher repair or washer repair.
Dryer running long, laundry room running hot
Long dry times often trace to a lint-choked vent, not a broken machine. Accessible vent and airflow cleaning is a compact visit. Scope is on the dryer repair page.
AC not cooling triage
Window and through-wall units: filter and coil cleaning, airflow, drainage and seating review can often be scheduled fast in season. Refrigerant work is flagged and routed. See AC installation and cleaning.
TV mount or urgent turnover punch list
A mount that has to happen before movers leave, or a short punch list before a lease signing, is exactly what an open slot is for. See TV mounting and apartment turnover.
What Is Not a Same-Day Handyman Visit
Some situations should never wait for a handyman, ours or anyone else's. Handle the emergency first; we can help with the cleanup and repairs afterward.
Active gas smell
Leave the apartment, do not flip switches or light anything, and call 911 and Con Edison from outside. Gas piping, valves and leaks are never handyman work. Book us later for anything the incident left behind.
Burst pipe or active flooding
Close the fixture shutoff, or have the super close the building shutoff, and call a licensed emergency plumber. Once the water is stopped, we can quote the drywall, flooring and fixture work that follows.
Electrical burning smell or hot outlet
Turn the circuit off at the breaker if it is safe to reach, and call a Licensed Master Electrician, or 911 if there is smoke. Wiring faults are flagged and routed, not patched; we handle fixture and device work after the circuit is cleared.
Refrigerant, compressor or sealed-system failure
This may require an EPA Section 608 certified technician, the manufacturer or a specialist partner. We flag that before scheduling, and can quote replacement planning and installation instead if repair is not worth it.
Down Equipment in a Working Business
Commercial requests with clear photos and model numbers get triage priority when a slot is available, because downtime there is measured in inventory and staff hours.
Food-holding is a clock, not a preference
Cold food creeping above 41°F is a health-inspection and inventory problem. Send unit temperatures and photos immediately; we confirm whether the symptom fits cleaning and airflow triage or needs specialist routing. Scope details: commercial refrigeration.
Restaurants get a dedicated lane
Line equipment, seating repairs, door and gasket issues, shelving and turnover work between services: the for-restaurants page covers how we plan visits around your prep and service hours.
COI paperwork without the scramble
Offices and managed buildings usually need a Certificate of Insurance before anyone walks in. Send the requirements with your first message so paperwork and the visit can move in parallel. More on the COI handyman page.
What to Send for a Same-Day Shot
Every item below removes a reason to postpone. A complete first message is the single biggest factor in landing today's slot.
Photos of the problem
Wide shot for context, close-up for detail. For appliances, include the surrounding access area, rear or under-unit if reachable.
Brand and model number
The sticker is usually inside the door frame, behind the kickplate or on the back. It decides parts, tools and whether the job fits scope at all.
Exact symptom and when it started
What changed, when, any error code, and a short video if there is a noise or a drip. Guesswork is what slow visits are made of.
Address or neighborhood
Same-day depends on where today's route already is. A borough and cross-street is enough to check the fit.
Access and building rules
Doorman, freight elevator hours, COI requirements, alteration desk, pets, parking. Every rule discovered on arrival costs the slot.
Time windows you can host today
Two or three workable windows beat one narrow one. The wider your availability, the better the odds an opening lines up.

Same-Day Handyman FAQ
Are you a 24/7 emergency handyman?
No. Repair Asap LLC works scheduled visits during business hours, and the fastest response happens during business hours. You can send photos and details any time, and we reply as soon as we are open. Active gas smells, flooding and electrical burning smells belong with 911, Con Edison, a licensed emergency plumber or a Licensed Master Electrician, not a handyman.
Do you guarantee same-day service?
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. Same-day visits happen when a slot is open on the calendar and the scope fits. Sending photos, the model number and your access details upfront makes a same-day fit much more likely, because we can confirm scope and quote without a first trip. If today is full, we offer the next open slot.
Which boroughs do you cover for same-day requests?
Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Staten Island, plus Western Long Island and Nassau County when scope and travel fit. Same-day fit depends on where the day's route already is, so include your neighborhood in the first message.
Can you handle building COI requirements on short notice?
We support Certificates of Insurance for managed buildings, condos and co-ops. Send the building's COI sample or requirements with your first message; paperwork approval time is set by your management office, and a same-day visit is only possible if the building can process it that fast.
Why do you ask for photos and a model number first?
Photos and the model number let us confirm scope fit, quote fast and arrive with the right parts and tools, which is what makes a single same-day visit realistic. They also let us flag work that needs a Licensed Master Plumber, a Licensed Master Electrician, an EPA Section 608 certified technician or the manufacturer before anyone books a wasted appointment.
What happens if you cannot fit me in today?
We say so directly and offer the next open slot, usually next-day. Where it helps, we suggest safe interim steps, like shutting a supply valve, moving food to a working fridge or keeping a door secured. If the issue needs a specialist, we flag that immediately so you are not waiting on the wrong trade.
