We mount what needs mounting, pair the apps on your Wi-Fi with you present, and test every feature before we leave.
Nothing on this page touches the building's wiring. Smart switches, smart dimmers, in-wall outlets, thermostats and hardwired or interconnected smoke alarms are electrical work done by a NYC Licensed Master Electrician. Video doorbells, security cameras, alarm sensors and entry systems are installed by a New York State licensed security and fire alarm installer. If the job you have in mind needs one of them, we say so from your photos before anything is booked.
Smart lock requests should include door thickness, deadbolt bore, strike plate condition, backset, the lock model, and whether the door already closes smoothly. Most battery smart locks replace the deadbolt inside the existing holes; drilling, strike work and alignment are covered on our lock installation page.
Battery smoke/CO alarms are 10-year sealed units mounted on the ceiling or wall and tested on the spot. They are never a replacement for an alarm the building code requires to be hardwired or interconnected — send a photo of the existing alarm and we will tell you which kind it is.

3. $150 Work Minimum
Every job is quoted and approved before work starts — no surprises. After a $99 assessment, a $150 job means you pay the $51 difference. Prices are plus NY sales tax where applicable.

How much does smart home setup cost in NYC?
Smart plugs, smart bulbs and hub pairing are quoted from photos and start at the $150 work minimum. A straight smart-lock swap on a door that already fits runs $215–$290. Every price is confirmed before booking and is plus NY sales tax where applicable.
Which smart devices do you set up?

Do you install smart thermostats, video doorbells or cameras?
No. Thermostat wiring controls heating and cooling equipment, and in NYC that work is done by a NYC Licensed Master Electrician. Video doorbells, security cameras, alarm sensors and entry systems are installed by a New York State licensed security and fire alarm installer.
Do you install smart switches, dimmers or in-wall outlets?
No. Anything wired into the wall is electrical work done by a NYC Licensed Master Electrician. Smart bulbs or smart plugs often give the same app and voice control without touching the wiring, and we can set those up.
Can you replace smoke and carbon monoxide alarms?
Yes, with battery-powered 10-year sealed smoke/CO alarms, mounted and tested, where they are not replacing an alarm the building code requires to be hardwired or interconnected. Hardwired and interconnected alarms are replaced by a NYC Licensed Master Electrician.
What should I send for a smart home setup quote?
The product links or model numbers, a photo of each spot (the door from both sides for a smart lock, the ceiling for an alarm, the outlet for a plug-in device), and whether you will have your app login and Wi-Fi password at the visit.
