An existing paver patio ready for a permanent gazebo

The project started on a finished paver patio in the Locust Valley / Lattingtown area of Nassau County, Long Island. The homeowner wanted a large freestanding gazebo with an outdoor kitchen as a permanent backyard feature.

A structure this size needs real support. Rather than setting the posts on top of the pavers, each leg would sit on its own poured concrete footing below grade, so the gazebo stays level and stable through the seasons.

Scope of work

  • Lifting existing pavers at each gazebo post location
  • Drilling and excavating footing holes in the ground below
  • Setting a gravel base and formwork for each footing
  • Pouring concrete footing pads under every gazebo leg
  • Curing time before any structure was assembled
  • Two-person gazebo frame assembly by the manufacturer's instructions
  • Roof panel installation and roof-edge detailing
  • Fitting the gazebo's integrated drainage / downspout components
  • Outdoor kitchen unit placement and assembly
  • Resetting pavers and final cleanup around the structure
Foundation & assembly

Concrete footings first, then a two-person gazebo build

Day one was foundation work. The crew lifted the pavers at each post location, drilled and excavated the footing holes, and set a gravel base with formwork for each footing.

Concrete was poured for a footing pad under every gazebo leg, with anchor hardware set into the concrete. The site was then left so the concrete could cure before any weight went on it.

Once the footings had cured, a two-person crew returned and assembled the gazebo frame and roof following the manufacturer's instructions, then completed the roof detailing and fitted the integrated drainage and downspout components.

The final day covered the outdoor kitchen installation and a full cleanup, including resetting the pavers around the new posts. The foundation plus the complete build was delivered for a project total of $4,500 — final pricing depends on size, site conditions, foundation requirements, access, materials, utilities, and scope.

FAQ

Gazebo & outdoor kitchen installation FAQ

How long does gazebo installation take?

It depends on the size and the foundation. This project ran about three working days: one day for concrete footings, curing time in between, then frame, roof, drainage, and outdoor kitchen assembly with a two-person crew.

Do gazebos need concrete footings?

Larger freestanding and hardtop gazebos are most stable on concrete footings poured below grade under each post. Smaller units can sometimes be anchored differently, but footings help keep a big structure level and secure over time.

Can you install a gazebo on or around an existing paver patio?

Yes. On this project the pavers were lifted at each post location so footings could be poured, then reset around the finished posts, so the patio stays usable and the gazebo still gets a solid foundation.

Can you install outdoor kitchen kits?

Yes. We assemble and place outdoor kitchen islands and grill units as part of an outdoor build. Any gas, water, or electrical hookups are handled separately based on the specific unit and site.

How do I get a quote for an outdoor project?

Text or send photos of your patio or yard and describe what you want to add. We review access, site conditions, and foundation needs, then give you an estimate. Final pricing depends on size, site conditions, foundation requirements, access, materials, utilities, and scope.
