What drives the price

• Style: a solid color is the base case; two-tone blocks, stripes and geometric patterns are priced by how many tape lines and colors the layout needs.
• Wall size and ceiling height: walls wider than about 12 ft and pre-war ceilings of 10 ft and up mean more paint, ladder work and cut-in.
• Color change: the deep-color line already includes a tinted primer and two coats, so on a standard wall it starts at the same figure as a solid color; a large wall or a third coat for full coverage is its middle tier.
• Wall condition: small holes are patched in every tier; on the solid-color line, minor patching is the middle tier and heavy patching or a skim coat the top one, while for a patterned wall, damaged or textured plaster is prepped and quoted separately.

Why does a patterned accent wall cost more than a solid one?

Stripes, chevrons and geometric patterns cost more because the time goes into layout: measuring, marking level lines, taping every edge, painting each color and pulling the tape for a clean line. A solid wall is two coats and clean edges. The table prices each style on its own line, from a standard wall to a tall wall or a complex layout, so the difference for your wall size is visible before you decide.

Does a dark accent wall need extra coats?

Usually. Navy, forest green or black over a light wall gets a tinted primer and two coats, which the deep-color line already includes; a third coat, for colors that still look patchy, is its middle tier. A dark color also shows every flaw in the wall, so patching matters more than under a pale one.

My wall is pre-war plaster with cracks. Can it still be an accent wall?

Yes, after prep. Small holes are patched in every tier. On the solid-color line, minor patching is the middle tier, and cracked or uneven plaster that needs heavy patching or a skim coat is the top one; under a patterned design, damaged plaster is prepped and quoted separately. Send a close photo of the cracks and one taken with light raking across the wall from the side, which shows unevenness a straight-on photo hides.

Do you install wood slat or acoustic panel accent walls?

Those are installation jobs rather than painting, so they are not in this table. Slat, molding and acoustic panel walls are quoted from photos and wall measurements with the product you have chosen. The prices in this guide are for painted accent walls only.

How long does an accent wall take?

A single accent wall typically takes 3–5 hours, including prep, two coats and clean-up. Patterns with several colors, and deep colors that need a tinted primer, take longer because each coat has to dry before the next.
