Every replacement request includes fixture weight review, box and mounting checks, dimmer compatibility review, ladder access review and a function test. The price follows the fixture: a flush mount on an existing box is the base case; pendants with long drops, multi-light track and heavy chandeliers take more time and sometimes more support. Prices are labor; the fixture, bulbs and dimmer are yours or quoted separately.

What drives the price

  • Fixture weight: heavy fixtures may require additional support before hanging.
  • Ceiling height: double-height and stairwell fixtures need taller ladders or scaffolding.
  • Canopy size: a new canopy that does not cover the old opening means patching.
  • Dimmers: LED fixtures and old dimmers do not always agree — we check compatibility.
  • Assembly: crystal and multi-arm chandeliers can take longer to assemble than to hang.

What's included

  • Taking down the old fixture and checking the box
  • Hanging and wiring the new fixture to the existing connection
  • Dimmer compatibility review
  • Function test before we leave

What's quoted separately

  • The fixture, bulbs and dimmer
  • Additional support or a new box for heavy fixtures
  • Patching and painting around a smaller canopy

When it's not a handyman job

  • New fixture locations may require a new box, electrical routing, a NYC Licensed Master Electrician and a DOB permit. We replace fixtures where they are; we do not add locations.
